Webelos Camp

This was Korbin's last year going to camp as a cub scouts. Jason's the Webelos den leader and since he recently took so much time off of work I decided to step it up and volunteer to go in his place.
Tosha wanted to go with her son Logan so we made it a date for her to go with me and help out with the boys.
Things were going smoothly on this Tuesday morning until about 10-20 yards from this sign.
(crappy internet picture)
I could hear someone dry heaving in the back. I turn around to find a scout (who will remain anonymous) throwing up in my car. Pause. Not the best way to start the day but what do you do. Poor kid felt so bad and we all tried to downplay it.  We got everything somewhat cleaned up and continued to go into the camp.  While Tosha took the boys to get ready for the opening ceremony I went into the office to check in. They couldn't find our paperwork but still included us in the rotations so we wouldn't miss anything and told me they would get it all worked out.
After the ceremony we walk over and had to wait outside for a minute for our first class to start when I notice miniature scouts. Little boys barely above my waist, then I noticed the neckerchief. My brain took a minute to put the two and two together. Bears and Wolves neckerchiefs not Webelos.
The look on Tosha's face was priceless as I told her that I thought we must have come up on the wrong day. I've known her for maybe 6 years and I had never seen her give me the look she gave me (it made the trip worth it).
I left her with the boys and went to try and get everything figured out. After figuring things out over the phone I just laughed as my friend told me to shut up (with a fabulous tone) after explaining the day so far. Good quality friends can tell you to shut up and you can still laugh together and make the day more memorable. We found there was a mix up with the dates. The head scout lady was really nice and gave us a choice to come back a few days later or stay.
After talking to Tosha we decided it would be best to come back another day. The list for  Webelos camp was totally different so it would be worth returning on a different day.
We let the kids finish the class and then told them we would be leaving and returning a few days later so they could do new things. They all agreed under one condition. We had to pay a visit to the trading post. The request was easily granted.
We ate our sack lunches and let the boys hang out for a bit before coming home. After lunch we decide to go and have them use the restroom. I'm not sure what happened but one minute I'm talking to Logan and teasing him the next I'm in water (I must have lost my footing) in an oversized creek which at the time looked and felt more like a river. I wasn't drenched but uncomfortably wet. The boys had a great laugh about it!
I was ready to go home. We loaded up in the car had a good laugh about our adventure. I've got to say I'm sure glad I was with a friend.
The car smelled pretty strong so we decided to take the pass with the windows down for a shorter drive time. We got to the beginning of the pass and we found it closed. We turned around and went the way we came. What a day!
After returning home Malinda sent me home to take a nap after listening to my throw up/wet story and I was not going to argue about taking a nap. I ended up leaving my kids there came home to clean the car out and then I took a nap for a few hours.
Jason thanked me a lot that night. He had a big work thing he really needed to focus on that day and everything went really well for him. After a busy day it was nice he offered to go and grab some delicious dinner for us.

On Thursday Tosha wasn't able to join me so Malinda offered to come and help with the boys.
Only three boys came on Thursday Conner, Ben and Korbin. The boys were well-behaved all day long and listened and followed directions in every class. They did all the fun stuff they had done in the past like Archery, Canoeing and BB shooting plus some fun new classes. Korbin impressed me a few times with a few facts he knew in two of the classes. His mind is like a sponge.

They also got cooled off while learning.
All three boys came home with smiles and new head gear. Fun, fun memories. Korbin's favorite thing at camp this year was BB shooting. The thing he'll miss the most about camp is everything.

Madison was happy she scored two long play dates at E/E and A's house. Malinda was awesome and watched Madison the first day and Malinda's mom was super nice and watched Madison the second time.

5K

I have a runner friend named Jackie. Compared to her I would call my self a jogger. She knew I wanted to run a 5k soon so she talked me into running a 5k with her. She told me about a fundraiser run nearby. All I cared about was if it was all flat. She laughed and signed us up. We did it in 33 min 47 seconds. She was a good sport and stuck with me even though I knew she could do it in much faster time. It was fun! The kids and Jason came to cheer us on.

April's

The kids had a blast over at April's while we were away. Every time we would call from Moab the conversations lasted seconds. They hung out and did a lot of fun things. They went to a nature park and to a birthday party and a few other places.
Korbin asked if I knew how to make german pancakes the day after we got home. April as it turns out makes the best german pancakes. Madison asked me if I knew I could make green or blue waffles. I guess they had those as well. I'm truly grateful April had the kids. For days I heard, 'at April's house...'. I teased April about showing off to my kids. From now on she needs to keep the fun stuff on the down low. She laughed.

The kids wanted to show me the nature park badly. I asked our friends if they wanted to join us on an afternoon exploration trip the week after we got back. They had just returned from a fun trip as well and we wanted to hear all about it. We ate and talked and talked some more about all the fun things both our families had done. The kids ran around and played.

Moab

After only sleeping on our beds for a few nights we were off again on another trip.
Jason's work team earned some trip money and it was a unanimous vote for a Moab trip. The trip was a 3 day trip with dinners, rafting,Jeep Safari and socializing.
No kids on this trip just grown ups, so our friend April watched the kids. We dropped the kids off at Amity's house around 1 or 2 and headed to Moab. By the time we got to Moab I was ready to come home, just sitting in the car for that long so soon was a little tiring. Jason got an earful of my nervousness of rafting the whole way down. He heard every excuse in the book for me to flake out on the fun adventures planned for us. Jason was a good husband and said you're going.

We checked in and had a little bit of time socializing with everyone before dinner. Dinner was not the best so we left the night owls shortly after and went for a walk and grabbed some dessert with some friends and then called it a night. We had to be up and ready to go early the next day.

The agenda for the day was Jeep Safari, break, rafting/lunch/rafting followed by another break and finishing the night with dinner.
Moad Adventures picked us up with 5 Hummers along with 5 tour guides from our motel The Rustic Inn. We lucked out with the tour guide we picked. A true Moab native who seemed to be more into this kinda stuff than the others. He drove faster, did more tricks, made a few of us scream and got the vehicle on only 2 wheels plus made all of us laugh so hard most of the time. No secret than I'm afraid of heights however I was so into this ride and the cliffs on both side of the car didn't bother me as much as it really should have. Our camera died soon after beginning. Go figure! Beautiful Moab in a way we had never seen it and no camera. We used our cell phones for pictures. The ride only lasted maybe an hour but was very cool and I would love to do it again someday with the kids.

We took a small break and then walked to Moab Adventures pick up spot to be bussed to the river. We heard the river was running really high. Good because rapids would be less bad because it would be running really fast.

The rafting was split into 2 parts with a lunch stop in the middle at Red Cliff Lodge.

No one would be able to leave me behind in the water with my bright yellow water proof jacket. I'm sure Jason loved every minute I wore it.

The first part of the rafting wasn't as bad as I thought. We paddled when neccesary hung out and joked around. The water did most of the work. It really was much better than I thought it would be.

After our lunch stop of good food I lost the jacket. Bad idea. The water was freezing and the whole team attacked each others rafts.

A lot of laughter and joking around was the end result plus a lot of fun. We ended way ahead of schedule due to  how fast the river was running so we had plenty of time to shop and go check out our pictures from rafting at a souvenir shop.

Dinner was reserved at The Red Cliff Lodge. It was great and made up for the previous nights dinner. We ate dinner overseeing the river and the sunset was beautiful. It was a great and fun day.

Our third day in Moab was our departure day. Everyone was doing different things at different times.  We ate breakfast early with a few other and then our plan was to do some hiking before going home. We hiked to Delicate Arch and drove around for a bit and then decided we wanted to be home.

Usually we would squeezed every minute of being away but this time we just wanted to get back.
It was a great trip for Jason and I to get away and spend time each other and with people I hear a lot about and I tried something I never would have done if the opportunity like this didn't present itself and my answer to Jason was maybe when he asked if I would ever raft again.
