Thanksgiving Weekend

We had another great Turkey Day filled with family and friends!  We ate a lot, played air hockey, talked about future summer trips, and ate some more.  We also managed to squeeze 4 different kinds of pies w/ice cream on the side by the end of the night.  Needless to say we had a light Breakfast the next morning.

The rest of the weekend was unexpectedly busy. We did a little shopping and went to Temple Square to see the lights on Friday night. On Saturday we did a little more shopping and then headed to the electrical parade/Christmas Village and Fireworks in Ogden.  It was so busy, we decided it would be best to return another night to really enjoy and finish the park.  We got our chance the very next night. We spent Sunday night with Kati, Emma and Ethan. We walked around Christmas Village and enjoyed all the great displays. We had a fun weekend!

Twilight/New Moon

Opening night for twilight last night.  I'm not going to ruin it for anyone by spilling details but here are some of my favorite parts of the movie... The Cullen Family, My Waterfall (The one we stopped at on our home from our Oregon trip a few months ago- It's somewhere in our Blog), the humor in the movie, and the preview of Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince(looks great!)

Update:SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES TWILIGHT SEQUEL - NEW MOON

Los Angeles, CA November 22, 2008 — Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise TWILIGHT, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. The movie will be based on the second novel in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series titled, New Moon. The first movie in the TWILIGHT franchise, the self-titled TWILIGHT, arrived in theaters this weekend to sold-out showings.

Volleyball

We won! We won! We won! And I have an extra-large shirt to prove it!

I was invited to play Volleyball for our ward by my friend April.  I'm not a sporty gal. Sports aren't my specialty, my idea of golfing with Jason means driving the cart...get the idea. I was glad I decided to go for this. I got to know some of my friends a little bit better and got to make new ones.

 The main competition we had to worry about was a team from The Valley that had a winning streak of 2 decades. Notice I said had. We played from 8:30 in the morning to 11:30-12 with about a half hour break somewhere in between.  I'm glad I was a part of this team, we had a blast.  I think someone mention playing dodge ball next. 

 Can you tell my excitement. I  added one of the songs we listen to in the car right before Maddie and Korbin's soccer games to get them pumped up. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get annoyed with it and take it off right after I stop gloating!

Smelly fridge and Stinky shoes

Our fridge has decided to take a few days off from working properly. What a pain! 

 This thanksgiving we're thankful for our friends and neighbors that have helped us over the last few days. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! 

Today was our day to trade our smelly fridge for stinky shoes. Bowling shoes are creepy to me, I always wonder who wore them last and if they had socks on.

 This is Madison's first time wearing bowling shoes. We've hit a milestone! In the past they've never had shoes in her size.  For her first time wearing bowling shoes she played with two left shoes the entire time and we didn't noticed until she was taking them off. We all had a good laugh.

This was Korbins reaction after every one of his turns. He cracks us up.

We had a great time. The best part was having the bumpers up the entire game plus all the snacks. Funny how somehow the bumpers weren't enough for Jason and I to bowl better scores.  Jason did get a strike and that's always awesome!

Not a Typical Saturday

The day started as a typical Saturday morning  but it didn't stay that way for long. The first task of the day was to find Madison a winter coat. We headed to the Layton Kohls to see if they had the same coat Jason saw at the Logan Kohls a few days ago.  They did have it and so we bought it after Maddie approved of it. If she doesn't like it, she will not wear it! She's nothing like our easy going handsome Korbin. We try to avoid shopping at Walmart especially on a Saturday but being so close to the Layton Walmart I wanted to at least try to find a few photo albums I haven't been able to find at the Walmart that's closer to our home.  No luck finding the photo albums but we did get a few 98 cent place mats for the kids.  This has been one of the best purchase we've ever made.  We purchased three, one with all the Presidents of the US, another with the solar system (Madisons favorite) and last but not least one with all 50 States and Capitals (Korbins favorite).

 We next headed to Tai Pan.  The females in our family could spend all day here but the males in our family are very pushy.  So after a shorter visit than usual I finally found what I wanted for the front door.

 Now my problem is when is it acceptable to hang it up. Ideas... Dec 1, the day after Thanksgiving, on the first snow fall or now. As we started to head back home we decided to go into Riverdale for a few more stops.  While having a light conversation about Obama's middle name and other random topics of discussion Jason and I have we got rear ended at a light between the freeway exit and Target. Luckily no one was hurt.  Nothing really happened to our car or the other car except scratches.

Jason and I knew what this would mean for the next few hours. Jason's car is a company car if it's in any kind of accident there's a long procedure that has to take place immediately after. This part of our day took two to three hours. For the first hour it included waiting for the police officer and filling out forms followed by a half an hour to 45 minutes of Jason talking on his cell phone going back and forth with his work/insurance/car company and who knows who else all while sitting at a parking lot. Then we had to spend another hour in a smelly waiting room waiting for Jason to finish even more stuff. The kids entertained themselves better than I did.  They made surgical masks out of paper towels and rubber bands (of course, every dentist needs a surgical mask) and they probably used a good half a cup of hand sanitizer in the process (every dentist has to have clean hands).  After all of the excitement(sarcasm) all we wanted was a fast Costco lunch.  After a much needed lunch we felt much better and then continued onto the Mervyn's closing event.  They had nothing to temp us with, 30% off just doesn't do it for us.  Finally our last stop was taking a look at new cell phones.  Jason found the cell phone he wanted (he gets a corporate discount so his limit is much higher than mine). I'll probably just go for cheapest phone again.  Yes, the one that takes pictures like the one of the kids above. What can you expect for free!  This Saturday was nothing like our usual Saturdays but we still managed to have a great day together even with all the unexpected stuff!

Hot Pink

Last Monday Maddie received an invitation for a birthday party. Since then everyday I've been privileged to hear all about it. Two days ago after spending an hour plus one or two breakdowns in Wal-Mart she had the perfect gift. I could tell she was really exited because last night she wrote her own personalized message on the birthday card for Addie.  In the past all I've been able to get her to do is sign her name. Finally, the big day was today!  Her first Spa trip with a bunch of friends. I think the icing on the cake was that Jaycee was also invited. She really likes Jaycee.  Every time I pick her up from Jaycees she complains why she only got to play for a little bit. Oh, Brother! After walking in last night from the party, the first thing Madison did was show off her manicure and pedicure then she switched to describing all the cool things they got like each getting a massage and how they ate cupcakes but didn't get to sing Happy Birthday to Addie. She was confused on that but brushed it off fast and continue to give us details for the rest of the night including all the different colors the other girls picked for their nails. Maddie picked hot pink, it's very bright and fits her personality

Korbin had a fun day today as well.  I had a scout field trip to Union Station today so I called a friend to see if Korbin could hang out at their house for a little bit.  He prefers other options to do before he has to come with me especially the field trips. Korbin has a few more months to wait to be able to officially join scouts so when he comes with me he gets bored. I think he'll get the hang of it after he gets his own shirt and starts working on passing things off in his own scout book.  A few weeks ago I took him on a bike ride around the neighborhood with the scouts and it was not a good idea to take him.  Korbin couldn't keep up with us and was extremely exhausted and whiny. It's amazing the difference in energy and endurance boys have in one year. After two hours of playtime at Conners house today he was really happy that I found him a friend to play with instead of taking him with me.  A win all the way around. I was able to listen to the guided tour the whole time and I learned new things including a funny joke.  What should have been the fastest method of exchanging info back then?  TellAWomen. Hahaha! If you've heard this joke before I'm sorry. I'm sure I probably retold it wrong.

Halloween

First of all, please take a moment to admire the most recent improvements to our blog. With a little help from Photoshop, great friends with marvelous ideas, and an endless supply of patience with our computer anything is possible. Well almost possible, our header is off centered and I can't get it right.  I've attempted fixing it many times and have failed enough to consider just leaving it the way it is.

Halloween was fun this year! We did our yearly tradition of going down to Kati's house for dinner and trick or treating.  Maddie was Hermione Granger this year and Korbin was a Blue Power Ranger. I remembered the camera exiting the freeway going to Kati's. So, tonight we'll  take make up pictures of the kids in their costumes. The kids had a good load this year. They had plenty of Snickers for mom but dad wasn't so lucky this year, no recess pieces. Weird!  The rest of our weekend was slow. On Sunday night I took advantage of getting the kids in bed earlier that usual due to daylight savings.  A perfect plan all in my head of course. Except Monday morning didn't follow the plan I had arranged the previous night.  Maddie and Korbin both woke up at 5 o'clock.  I should have guessed Korbin would be up that early but Maddie is another story. I never thought I would see the day Maddie would willingly be up and out of bed that early.
