Celebrating Freedom

To celebrate our freedom this year we went to the parade in the morning and sat by Conner's family. The parade was not as exciting as usual. It's not fun being handed candy instead of catching it yourself as it's thrown toward you but the kids managed and still came home with two bags full of candy.

After the parade we came home and Jason grilled up some food. We couldn't decide on what to do next but in the end we decided to go see Transformers 3 in 3D with Jason's mom and uncle. It was a great way to celebrate the 4th. The movie was great. Madison took a nap. She really doesn't like 3D movies. I think out of our family I enjoyed it the most and maybe Korbin next.
We finished the night with our traditional walk on the canal to the high school for fireworks. The kids beg us every year to go down to the stadium and watch the concert and firework show on the football field.  It didn't happen this year but we might give in sooner or later or we can just wait for them to be old enough to go with friends so we don't have to go down there. The short firework display left room for wanting more, it was everyone else and their dog that made the fireworks memorable this year. Every way we looked people had aerial fireworks.
We started our celebration a few days earlier with some fireworks Jason and I bought a decade ago from Wy. After 10 years they still worked.
After the walk home we hurried and got Madison to bed. She had a big day at day camp the next day and she requires much sleep to be functional and not grouchy.

your kids look so festive!! really the fireworks at the stadium is way over-rated. there are way too many people to contend with. you are always invited to my parents to see the fireworks there, but jared and i always talk about going to the canal road to see them from there.

We got pelted with candy. I got an otter pop to the forhead! There's got to be a happy medium to parade candy throwing...

Don't get me started on the lame fireworks or the lame candy throwing rules. Next year we are celebrating in a different town.
